Hands of the Dark Deceit +2 Gloves of Dexterity
These stiff black leather fingerless gloves are studded with burned iron along the knuckles, scorched and marked inlaid with evil runes of deceit, pain and . They are bloodied with stains that are impossible to remove.
Crafted in 1320DR by Doros Var Hayme, a Zhentarim wizard from Zhentil Keep, the gloves were provided to a vicious man called Radwys who was not only one of his many spies but also a murderer who would prey on the women of the city at night.
He met his end in 1345 when one of his victims turned out to be the long lost daughter of a powerful wizard called Warlgret who, reportedly not only killed Radwys but slowly turned him inside out over the course of a few hours. His thirst for revenge didn’t end there, he then went on a wrathful rampage through Doros’ tower slaughtering everyone inside and dropping Doros from the highest window.
The gloves fell into the wizard’s hands and it was several months before the Zhents found him and made an example of him. They reanimated his dead daughter in order to lure him out then ambushed him with an onslaught of steel after trapping Walgret in an antimagic shell. One of the Zhents in the ambush was a young priest Malark.
As Malark rose through the ranks, he was posted to Darkhold Keep where he studied under The High Priest there Dhamir.
During this time he befriended the witch Ashemmi and he performed many tasks for her, some without Dhamir’s knowledge. Whether their relationship was more than just professional is open to interpretation but when Ashemmi went missing shortly before the fall of Darkhold in 1374 at the hands of the Helmites of Hluthvar lead by Maurandyr, Malark was commanded to find her and bring her back to Zhentil Keep for interrogation and punishment.
