Ring of The High Augurer (Ring of Blinking)
This magnificent band of mithril is engraved with an eternal triangular design inlaid with triangular amethysts.
Crafted in 1350 by the wizard Faldun Waardus somewhere just outside of Westgate, the wizard wore the ring for many years as he travelled the Western Heartlands and Dragoncoast with his band of adventurers known as The Silver Knot.
About five years later in 1355 the Silver Knot were crossing the Dragonmere to Cormyr by ship when it was sunken by a huge dragonturtle and sent to the bottom of the ocean along with Faldun. Some of his friends escaped using their magic and later returned for Faldun’s corpse so he could be raised but there was no sign of him.
19 years passed and the ring was later found by a fish butcher as he gutted a fat salmon pulled from the Esmel river in Athkatla. The ring wasn’t recognised as magical or mnithril by the untrained eyes of the fish butcher who used it to pay his taxes when the collector came knocking.
The ring sat in the treasury of the council of six for a few months until it was discovered by a scribe who had an inkling it was more than just a bauble and took it to his master who then consulted one of the council sages. When its true value was discovered it was sold onto the Thayan Enclave who in turn sold it to the adventuring elven rogue Emerend who was travelling with a cleric of Lathander called Naren, a dwarven warrior named Borfdor of Clan Highcrag and an air genassi wizard called Oren.
From here, the team travelled east and entered the underdark somewhere near Minsor Vale in the Cloud Peaks looking for a mythical lost library of lore but were captured by the Tincalis of Oaxaptupa and taken back to the Stinger city for sacrifice.
Orin was the only member to escape but the others were sacrificed to the Stinger gods by the High Priest.
A few months later and the same priest was discovered beneath the Goldspire Abbey leading a group of slaves and Salamanders in constructing a portal that would enable the Stingers to invade Athkatla but its plan was thwarted by The Fated Heart adventuring group.
The ring was found upon the Stinger priest and taken by the Fated Heart.
