Mystra's Blessing
Shortly before the time that would be known as the "10 black days of Elient" an umremarkble blade was forged, a longspear. This was a small preperations made by smith near the city Valtreth which was to be re-named to Saltmarsh. A Stable-hand by the name of Stegar took up arms like many commoners to find revenge agaisnt the nobles of Tethyr.
When the killing began Stegar with a group of commoners took to the Road to stop anyone from escaping. This was to be their undoing as on the Road they found one of the lesser Tethyrian nobles, a Lord known as Cromwen, making his escape accompanied by his bodyguards. Cromwen's men Ran through the mass of peasantry who started to scatter. Stegar, Standing in the middle of a crowd being slaughtered by Cromwen's men, and in fear of his own life, prayed to whichever gods his could think of, amongst them was Mystra the mistress of magic. Apparently she answered as Cromwen charged Stegar, his spear seemed to have a mind of its own and ran the noble through, killing him instantly. With his death, the others broke their charge and this ended the skirmish.
Stegar named the spear Mystra's Blessing for this miracle.
After returning to Saltmarsh stegar was killed by stampeding horses during the disorder. Mystra's Blessing found its way to the Temple of Tempus. When the Priests examined the weapon, they saw the magic given to it by Mystra.
The weapon was donated to the arena under the temple until it was won by a cocky Gladiator come pit fighter named Olathgolst the blade. Olathgolst took the weapon when he left the Temple and later joined the adventuring group known as The Companions of the Fated heart on a quest to kill a Vampire that had plagued the depths of Saltmarsh. Joining the Adventurers he used the weapon in a great many deeds, including helping the companions to overthrow the currupt council of 6 of Athkatla.
The Weapon finally revealed its apparent true purpose, (although no-one has made the connection themselves) when it met a Half-elf Sorceress Names Virani. During a fierce battle with a large stone golem Olathgolst was thrown away by a fierce blow but as the golem swung a deadly blow that would have killed Virani, the weapon held fast and took the impact of a blow, saving Virani from certain death but was also broken into pieces.
After the battles the pieces were collected in the hope it can be one day repaired by a capable artificer.
Later Virani was revealed to be one of the chosen of Mystra making the events during the battle more apparent. Prehaps saving the Chosen of Mystras was the purpose of Mystra's blessing?
