Kalon’s Bone & Tooth Necklace
A simple sturdy leather thong fastened with a number of threaded loops each capable of holding several small items as trophies. The centre loop is larger and more prominent than the others.
Crafted circa 1350 by Kalon the Broad, the famed Impulturan Warrior, he is the necklace’s current owner.
A custom in his home tribe, Kalon started the necklace as part of his initiation where a young warrior on the eve of adulthood must stalk and kill a predator and claim a trophy from it such as its skin, tooth or claw. Usually this involves a young wolf, hyena or wild dog, something a young boy could handle. Kalon, however, stalked and killed an adult lion and after a tough fight, he claimed its claw which now occupies the main central loop.
The details of the story vary depending on who is telling it. Some say Kalon, just a boy at the time, killed the beast with his bare hands. Others say the lion was already dead when he found it but only Kalon knows the truth of that day.
Since then Kalon has killed other foes he has encountered on his journeys, that he has deemed worthy, and taken trophies from. These trophies are listed below.
If a trophy is too large or heavy to be affixed wholly, a piece of section of it is taken instead.
It is said by the elders that a warrior’s necklace becomes infused with the power of the spirit of the creature attached and that it comes to the aid of the owner in times of need or gives strength, wisdom, guidance or other help should the wearer be worthy.
Thus far, Kalon’s necklace has displayed no such abilities he is aware of.
