"maybe i could do that, perfecting my craft is a worthy pursuit. I think only people like you would ever need my craft however... The ring of steel is peaceful to me and the heat of the forge doesn't trouble me..."
*Kalon eyes the campfire, something between disgust and feat in his eyes*
"and yes, I think i would be fighting for others my whole life. Not everyone can fight or defend themselves. I feel some responsibility to protect those who cannot, after all the trouble I cause. One day I may even need the services of your kind..."

“I know you’re not bothered by riches but think of the renown you would get for the fine weapons, and to be honest you could make weapons for whoever you want. If you don’t want to make one for a certain person then who would argue? I know I bloody wouldn’t.” Simani starts thinking of all the possibilities that Kalon would need of her services but the curiosity gets too much and she has to ask. “Why would you need my services in later life? I can’t imagine any circumstance that someone like you would need me. I won’t lie, if you require my help in the next 4 to 5 years then there may be a charge.” She turns away before Kalon has chance to see the smirk on her face.

"Now why wouldn't you think i would need people like you? I know the importance and the use of thieves and even the relevance of assassins. When i fled, with some of my people from the war to sembia, I was desperately trying to get food to feed them and it was a theif, aptly name Nik who helped me... Using her craft."
*kalon smirks*
"Also you wouldnt charge me... Who else could repair that blade"
*points at rapier*
"Who is even qualified other than myself. Yes It does appeal to me to work only for the people i choose. Anyway back to my future need of people like you... What if their was a particularly evil person, who was in a position was somehow in a position of safety from me, physically or politically. Now imagine if he suddenly came down with an unrelated case you electric shock, stoning, plane shifting insanity death...Wouldn't that be a shame..."

Simani gestures Kalon to follow her. “I think this conversation is best had away from ears that won’t necessarily be happy with what they hear.” Once they were a suitable distance away from the others, fully aware that it was impossible for Kat not to hear. Simani says “I’m interested, but I’m not really into the whole make a scene of it stuff. If I do it, it’s going to be in and out. No messing, poison or blade. Naturally I’m going to need to know the target and the reason. Then we let Tymora decide.....like I explained to Halcion. Ultimately she has the final say.” She walks towards him and pats him on the shoulder, leaning in she whispers “....and who’s to say that this person won’t meet their fate at the hands an equally brilliant, talented and not to mention beautiful young thief.” As Kalon turns around to watch her walk away he sees that she has changed into a young, pale human female of similar height and stature, with piercing green eyes and long wavy black hair looking over her shoulder towards him. She winks and walks back into the light of the camp fire.

*lost in her own thoughts for most of the conversation, Amcimir's and Maria's words still going round and round in her head Kat finally dishes up some food to everyone an sits near the fire with Simani after she returns from her chat with Kalon*
I may be tempted to draw your new look at some point Simani *innocent look turns to blushes as she thinks of the portrait of K'erna and the fact a few people have now seen it*
I think I would like to travel more, see great cities and vast wilderness. Meet people from all walks of life and draw those things that inspire me, *laughs* and cook some epic banquets. Come up with more delicious idea's and try some new things, I could go on a hunt for rare spices.
Halcion.....I can tell this possibility of what we may do is weighing heavily on your shoulders. It is a course that is going to make us basically mass murderers! I can kind of understand the dilemma you face, myself I do not know what to do yet. Maybe there is a way to save some or all of them...I don't know
*chuckles sadly* but for all of your speech you never actually answered Simani's question and went off on a side road *winks at him*
We kill when needed, as I said before when I was *coughs* slightly emotional - how many lives have we taken? Assassination does always seem to give a dark sense of actions. But whats the real difference between say assassiating a cruel lord or us rolling up the front gate, burning them to cinders and kicking the crap out of his men, followed by him? one gets paid for doing it and we just take the loot after?
An interesting idea Simani.........

Simani looks at Kat in a very strange way....and thinks to herself “I wonder.....is she blushing because she finds women attractive or is she blushing because she is embarrassed about drawing naked people....if that is what she meant?”
“By all means Kat, you can draw me but only as my natural form. This is just a way of blending in and getting the job done. It’s not my true self.” She suddenly gets a look of confusion across her face “....which question? The one about killing to get what you want? I’m also confused about what is an interesting idea, I have that many of them that I lose track.” At that very moment she looks as though she has had another great idea “I think I might get a dog” she says aloud.

To answer the original question, no it's not okay to just kill people. Sometimes it's unavoidable and there is no choice or that they can't be redeemed because of their actions. If an opponent requests quarter or surrenders then I will give it to them. I wouldn't expect everyone to follow my example but I can and will try to lead by example and hope others would follow this.

*kalon looks over to Halcion*
"Now what about giving quarter on the battlefield? I don't mean a few people fighting i mean when 1000s are fighting. Blood, mud and chaos all around you... What do you do during the chaos of battle? Do you stab that man in the back? Do you slit that ones throat when hes on the floor? Nasty business that....
Then after the battle, all the wounded enemies in the mud, what do you do with them?"

Kalon i've never been in those sorts of battles, however I would still try to hold on to my values and the teachings of torm.
I wouldn't slit a wounded mans neck or stab another in the back, this is not how I fight
I would fight with all the strength in me even if it seemed hopeless, But I wouldn't adopt those sorts of tactics.
If the wounded surrendered I'd do what I could, I couldn't save them all but I'd try.
In the same way I couldn't be everywhere I'm no god just a servant.

"This is noble, should be respected"
*kalon shrugs*
"but some well timed dishonour and the will do to what needs to be done will turn the tide."
*Kalon looks at everyone*
"I won't be letting this war slide just because we might have to do something distasteful. People will die and we will kill many of them. Such is war..."

I have a feeling we are going to be responsible for much blood spilling.....*keeping her eyes on the fire*
Your strength to hold to your ideals and vows Halcion, I do admire it. I once tried to live by the Patarion code even though it seemed leagues away. Then my uncle told me that many believe it was actually a guide to try and live up to as actually following it was near on impossible.

Yes he told me as much too regarding bahamuts code. Although I lost his favour I still honour parts of the code too. This war will see the end of many that both deserve death for their actions and those that are simply misguided and those that are innocent. Regardless of our actions but we have to believe that what we do is for the greater good.

*Kalons normally harsh demeanour seems to drop for a moment, he looks a bit sad or perhaps concerned. He looks mostly to Halcion*
"We will both... All need to do distasteful things to win out these terrible conflicts for the good of all. Some will lose more than others to achieve this and we must not let our pride or desire for glory get in the way of whatever price we must pay to find victory. We must not get distracted finding the most glorious was to fall or be distracted on doing the right thing. What ever this cost may be."
*kalon pauses*
"The only reason I made all my deals the daemonic creatures was to end suffering. After we went to Ilmwatch, walking passed all the people suffering, all the children in fear, all the pain and horrible things I knew I would do whatever it took to end it. The cost of my soul was nothing compared to this."
