Hi all, you may have noticed over the last few days I have posted threads from the "Rules of the Game" and "All About" series that was featured on the Wizards of the Coast website many years ago.
I would like to point out that this is not my work, but the work of Skip Williams who was the Sage of the Dragon Magazine for many years, he was also a co-designer of the D&D 3rd Edition game and the chief architect of the Monster Manual.
All I have done is compile the threads from Wizards of the Coast into one thread each and changed the formatting a little.
While looking at those threads are not integral to playing D&D you will find useful things to increase your knowledge about the rules system of the game and they will help to sort out some of those hard to understand rules.
While I haven't read all of them myself yet I have learnt some interesting things, like:
Important note: Over the years Darren has implemented various House Rules. If you have any questions regarding these House Rules then please either make a thread to discuss it, post in the thread provided or ultimately! post to Darren (Our glorious DM himself).

While I haven't read all of them myself yet I have learnt some interesting things, like:
- Explaining the confusing rules of Grappling. Rules of the Game - All About Grappling.
- That the extra damage from a Sneak Attack is classed as the same type as the type you used with it, eg (with a Slashing weapon the extra damage is Slashing. When used with a Melf's Acid Arrow spell all the extra damage becomes Acid damage). Rules of the Game - All About Sneak Attacks.
- When you are under the effects of Paralysis such as from a Hold Person spell, you can still take purely mental actions. Like still being able to use spell-like abilities and things like the mental control of an active spell. Rules of the Game - Magical Oddities.
