The Weeping Chance +2 Bastard Sword of Wounding
Weeping chance is a vicious weapon with a straight dull steel blade edged at its foible with stylized serrations that match the swirling patterns that run up the forte. Cracked crimson scale covers the hilt. When the blade wounds a victim, it weeps a little blood for an hour after.
Thought lost somewhere in the Wealdath, this nasty weapon was crafted by The good master Priest Seceli Irator from Eshpurta of Amn in 1227, a follower of Lathander. It was at this time said to be a gleaming holy blade of gold meant for Ormagred The Agreeable; the hand of a Lord who had saved the wizard’s daughter from the clutches of an owlbear.
However, the Lord, Gorendrest the Fifth, coveted the blade for himself so took it from the knight believing its holiness to be meant for somebody of noble birth such as himself.
After a while, the Lord became evil and twisted, his lust for pain and blood and the suffering of others became legendary across Amn and his dungeons a greatly feared place where none would return and Gorendrest would fulfil his evil lusts.
As his heart had turned to evil, so the sword began to harm him but his twisted mind saw this as a test, that the sword also had a desire to inflict pain on others so he kept it and used it upon his victims.
After a while, the evil acts performed with the sword tarnished it and it took on the shape it has today, dull and vicious.
Gorendrest’s rule came to an end sometime in 1239 when the council of Amn saw to remove him from power. Lead by Ormagred, a small army fought those still loyal to the Lord and stormed the castle where Gorendrest was taken captive but in the confusion, he managed to slip his bonds and fall upon the blade taking his own life. As his blood slickened the blade, the sword was corrupted and its holiness banished to be replaced by the Lord’s own blood lust and desire to inflict pain on others and so it became a blade of wounding.
His blood stained the leather on the hilt turning it crimson.
Ormagred ordered his men to take the blade to the elves of the Wealdath to have it destroyed but they, and the sword, never returned.
