Simani, I don't choose to judge straight away as I know nothing of you past. Tell me of this master of yours the one you have escaped. By the sounds of it he is the cause behind your nature to help yourself to another's possessions. I see you retreat from the shadows you normally enjoy. If he is as evil as you make out I would be willing once we have help Kalon with his duties to help you deal with this.

Kat, I have limited experience against yours but I have seen beautiful sights whilst I have journey. The first ray of light as it pierces the darkness of the night sky. Or the wind flowing around me as I soar into the sky a blessing from Aerdrie Faenya.

"There are two things I want. One, to be free from my master. While I am at present, physically free from him, I am not mentally free. I live in constant fear that he will find me. Two, I would like to live out my days in a lavish city mansion being waited on. Obviously I need a vast amount of money to accomplish and maintain that lifestyle.....as well as freedom from my nightmares. I need to find an expensive or rare item that would increase my reputation without revealing that I am a thief. That way I can still continue my trade by night and play the public hero by day. So to speak." Simani seems to drift off into her own little world as she imagines all the mischief she could get up to.

"I only have the name Galeron, and I reluctant to believe that as his name was uttered from that vile minipulative bitch Tiamat." Simani spits on the ground. "The only other information is what I got from Lyri and a Sage. The Sage told me a few months ago that my master was in dusk and that is where I was held captive."

Glancing up from the dried-flesh pages of Kreiss' spellbook, Lyri took in the firelit faces of his companions. Each spoke with passion or solemnity, casting a serious atmosphere into the darkening night.
Despite the broken shorthand Kreiss had used to describe his twisted use of magics, Lyri felt jovial sat on his bedroll. The fire warmed his body and the company warmed his soul as he contemplated the good deeds they had accomplished on the road. He set out to research his ancestry, yet the road to that far off destination was proving largely pleasant and altogether wholesome for his conscience.
Aware that his mind had drifted, he refocused to the time at hand, breaking eye contact with one of the party who had noticed his daydreaming. Is it daydreaming if it's at night? Regardless, he continued his studies with his hands firmly in his pockets, his mage hand occasionally turning a page.

Simani smiles cheekily to herself as she spies Lyri looking up from his book. The same book he always read. "Don't try and act all inocent and uninterested, I would like to know if you can tell me what a 'deck of many things' does?" As she says this she fumbles into her bag of holding, pulls out a deck of ivory cards inlaid with gold and starts to shuffle them. "Riman specifically asked me not to take that particular deck, but I couldn't resist....it sounds so inviting and mystical" her eyes glaze over as she stares at the top card. Simani knows that this is not the deck, Riman told her so. She remembers seeing another deck that she doesn't have. Some one has it, but who?

*As Simani shuffled the deck, each card seemed to spark off of the one beneath it sending motes of light, like the sparks from a whet stone or the fire but white and almmost blinding. The feel of the deck in her hands felt familiar; this was not the first time she had held a relic. The deck suddenly became heavy, too heavy to hold and fell to the ground with a thud. None of the cards seperated from the deck, none of them flipped over or left the pack and the thud sounded like Simani had dropped an ingot of lead* Lyri reached for the actual deck of many things in his pocket - it had been switched! The companions felt as if the deck waswatching them, waiting, it wanted to be used...*

Halcion looks up from the rituals of his armour slowly rubbing the dirt and grime from the interlinking panels
Some things should not be played with, some magic to powerful too trust in lady luck. You should be careful of what you seek Simani.
If the kings warned against this one item, then it also must be an unknown and be kept silent if they fear them then they likely hold a great deal of power. One that could also be used against us by those that we seek to fight.

"Everything should be played with.....how does anyone gain knowledge about an item without playing with it? Although, I have no idea how it got into my pocket. I know that is a strange thing to here from a curious thief such as myself but that is not the deck I picked up." She points to the deck on the ground. "Anyway Halcion.......are we not adventurers? Where is your sense of adventure?" She turns to Lyri with an expectant glint in her eye "so......how does it work?"

*kalon shrugs at mention of the king*
"Never been one to care to much on the words of any king. Fuck what they the lords, kings and ladies tell us to do. As Simani said its not much to the lifestyle if don't have a sense of adventure. Reckless as it might be its good to have some fun. Yes, uhm how do they do stuff Master Lyri?"

"Finally!! Someone that follows my trail of thought. Kalon has the right of it." She says with wry little smirk towards Halcion. Simani turns towards Lyri and her expression changes to expectation and then to disappointment as she is waiting for Lyri to answer. After about 3 minutes of impatient pacing she wanders over and reaches out for the top card of the deck. He hand falters a little as she braces for what might happen.

*Kat can't hide the sparkle of curiosity in her eyes and she stares almost transfixed by the deck of cards*
I know you don't always like them Kalon, but they sometimes do speak wisdom. It could be really dangerous *with effort she tares her eyes off the deck to Lyri* tell me about it please Lyri"

Struggling with the concept that the relic that he had been contemplating burying and walking away from was now in Simani's hand, Lyri paused for a moment and panicked about what to say. A great many deeds had been achieved by the mages and adepts of Silverymoon, almost all of them the inspiring results of hard labour, study and talent. Any wizard worth his wand would advise against playing with magic with only dumb luck as your friend, but in front of him sat a tremendous temptation. None the less, he shouldn't encourage this.
Calmly closing his book and standing up, not that it made all that much difference, Lyri took on the voice of a mentor, of a wizened scholar offering enlightenment. "Simani, what you hold is a dangerous and ancient piece of magic. Please do not test the patience of the gods by toying with such things." he starts, gently placing a hand over Simani's to rest in a placating gesture on the deck, not stopping her from drawing cards but certainly easing the notion that it was the inevitable next move. "Should you choose to risk all, you must select how ever many cards you are to draw. And then you face the consequences, the good and the bad. But I would ask you to consider two things.
"If I were to gift you infinite coin, but send you to a land where currency is unheard of, if I were to allow you the strongest of loves only to tear away your every memory, would you take the deal? Life as we know it is so rewarding if we seek our own, structured desires. But if you toy with fate you may find that any reward is completely dismissible in comparison to the punishments at stake. You do not bet with coin here, but with your future.
"Secondly, think on how this came to be. Think on how it sits in your hand. This artefact was created by a twisted mind Simani, a man who wanted to tempt the impressionable with riches and watch as they tested luck until they destroyed themselves. I can only see one reason to create such a thing and that is pure malice."

*Kalon Frowns and helps Simani shuffle the cards away*
"Another time perhaps..." (Good topic to talk about but i'm going to help Daz here because using the Deck of many things is very much something that has to be done at the table)
"The way i follow your thoughts Simani is from my last travels with Nik, Her nature was always trouble and wild. It was to do something without really thinking, stumble through it and somehow get out the other end and simply declare 'That was fun. It is not in your nature to be trapped like you once were or be forced to do Evil things. I just think you are trying to challenge yourself, make enough coin to be comfortable and have fun. Consider when you plan a heist or some such trouble don't ask our permission just leave me a little card with a symbol of Tymora and when you are finished recover it. Sneak the card into my pocket if you want, it might be funny but if i notice the card and you are gone at some stage ill find you"
*Kalon looks back around the group*
