"This is true. I enjoy the thrill even if I know it's a stupid idea. I also enjoy shiny things and if I have a chance to get them then I take it." "I don't think I have a card to put in your pocket but how about a two-headed coin?" She stares longingly at the deck, but tears her eyes away and steps back. "I will be taking a chance to play with those as well." Pointing towards the deck before turning and slinking back into the shadows.

"The coin will work just fine. I would be disappointing if you didn't tempt fate"
*Kalon doesn't even try to track Simani into the shadows. After all it's almost impossible to see a shadow in another shadow.*
"Anyone else fancy playing a hand of Tymora's Poker when the time is right?"

"It tempting, the chance at power with a simple drawing of a card. But what of working for what you have? training and practicing till it's right? It seems like the ultimate gamble, power to help face the wars ahead or a set back that could harm the effort we make in preparation. Every time we fail people may suffer, but if this helps then it helps them!

The Cards are a risk I am unwilling to take, our road will be full of danger and fate will have her hands full with us already. I was once warned never to tempt fate for she can be a cruel mistress if not respected properly.
My apologies if it sounds as if I am trying to kill the ..... um moment.
So Kalon, what can you tell us of Impiltur.

Simani stares into the flames and softly speaks "I do not understand why you Halcion....well all of us, myself included are willing to charge into battle and risk life and limb for what is right. But you are not willing to gamble your life on a deck of cards or something fun. Sure you may say that good training and knowledge reduce the risks of death but mark my words, there is always someone better than you. Always. Could be a warrior, could be a wizard, you could just fuck up and a scrawny little goblin could take your head clean off. What I'm trying to say is that if the gods wanted to then they could change your fate in a heartbeat. So why not take a chance on this relic before the gods have a chance to interfere. All I know is, Tymora loves a gambler......and what better stake is there than your life?" She peels her eyes away from the fire and stares at each one in turn. She then walks in a tiny circle three times, slumps to the floor and curls up to go to sleep.

Halcion looks to where simani has settled and rubs his chin and ponders what has been said. There are many dangers that he is willing to face, do the cards hold fear to him is this why he chooses to not participate with the cards. He has no luster for wealth or status, only seeking to do what is right both in keeping his Paladins vow and his oath to bahamut. He shakes his head and looks to where the cards lie, but they hold no interest his eyes pass over them. They know his heart and there is no shine to them for him only woe.
Looking to these companions as they sort there own tasks. I sware that in my company I will do all that I can to keep you as safe as possible. I can foresee this to be a hard task, but the road has been chosen and I will walk it without fear

The companions found themselves in The Vast, the stench of Tantras behind them and the cries of the starving and dying still in their ears and minds. Though death and dispair lay behind, Kalon knew that he was leading his friends into far worse...

*poking the fire Kat keeps and uneasy gaze at the edges of the camp fire, sensing her unease Ryna seems to be sleeping with one eye open and Kepesk watches over the other horses with care*
Well we are on the borders of the Vast now, with the grey forest within striking distance and maybe some of the knights drawing closer to hand *looks to Kalon*.
there has been such a build up and now we are finally on the verge my friends *her shoulders seem to slump slightly with the weight of whats ahead and the lives at stake*
any more words of advise Kalon? Lyri? "

The flames flickered, the whispering wind tussled the hair of those gathered and Embrus, first king of Cormyr appeared on the fringes of the camp fire. "Apologies if I am interrupting but I can hear and see all that ye do from my strange world between. A friend was lost, his punishment finally caught up with him." He whispered, yet his voice still seemed to hold power, nobility and sadness. "These knights you seek in the forest, tell me more of them?"

Halcion rises from his prayers blowing three candles out before bowing in front of each candle. Then rises to his feet strapping his blade back on his back. He looks to Kalon and then to the blade Nyrmidiar. I believe there is at least one person and maybe an intelligence of a different sort that may yield answers to your question King Embrus. However one may need convincing that it's purpose is aligned to ours. What I think I know is that these knights are leaderless and directionless, they turn on each other because of the forces aligned against them. Halcion picks up Nyrmidiar in its scabbard and gently touches the hilt and bindings and guard and grasps the hilt and begins to draw the blade.

I believe you speak of the blade entrusted to you by The Broad? I have not seen many swords with minds but my question of the knights the sword once served; if they have indeed turned on each other, then perhaps you cannot rely on them. Loyalty should transcend conflict and war should draw brothers closer not apart. Alas, I learned that lesson to my woe. Soon I shall travel to the remaining Talons, and I hope they remember their calling. I hope that Kalon can persuade his kinsmen the same.

Hopefully they only require a reminder of what they were and what they could be again. Maybe even a symbol to once again follow is what is needed
